Dave Reichle, President of the CORRE organization, will tell us about the current status and activities of that group. The Coalition of Oak Ridge Retired Employees has been working very hard to obtain equitable adjustments to the income of retired workers in Oak Ridge to account for loss purchasing power due to inflation. See their web site at: http://www.corre.info. The group needs you and your cooperation in order to help you.
Oak Ridge Site Specific Advisory Board member Steve Stow will give an overview of the board and the Department of Energy's environmental cleanup program. Steve is the Director of the American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge. The board is an independent, federally appointed citizens’ panel that provides advice and recommendations to DOE. The board was formed in 1995 and is composed of 20 members, chosen to reflect the diversity of gender, race, occupation, views, and interests of persons living near the DOE Oak Ridge Reservation.
The following nominated officers were elected at our regular meeting on March 10, 2008.

From King Leo Roger:It was both an honor and a sad duty to attend two funeral services in March. The first was for PDG Lion Dick Lines. Dick epitomized the Lion Spirit. His attendance at both regular meeting and board meetings was almost always assured and always welcome and he never turned away from an opportunity to serve the Lions. All who knew him will sorely miss him. The second memorial service was for Jo Henderson. Though she was not an official member of our club I sure that she supported both her husband Wayne and son Joe thereby providing important though not readily visible services to our club. Both Jo and Dick will be missed at our meetings, as are all who have passed away or moved away from the club. King Leo Roger Land |

Remember: Secure and use Kroger Care Certificates from Lion Bob Reynolds; the money goes to our Contribution for Operation KidSight Outreach that supports Vision Screening. You can also buy certificates at the SunTrust Bank Counter inside Kroger’s.
Lion Jerry Young is acting as Secretary in the absence of Lion Bruce Link. He reported our membership is at 22 members following the death of PDG Dick Lines. There are still three Life Members and two Member-at- Large (MAL); this gives us 17 members on Active Status.
The meeting was called to order by VP Joe Henderson at 6:00 p.m. The reports of the Secretary was presented and approved. The Treasurer’s report was presented later and approved.
For payment, a bill was presented from the Eye Center of Oak Ridge for $25.00 for an eye examination for a needy person. The bill was approved for payment. Bills from LCI for $44.50 and District 12-N for $190.90 were also approved.
A donation in memory of Jo Henderson was received. And a notification concerning the annual filling of an electronic form of 2008 to the IRS was received from LCI.
Reminders were given that the Spring Sale will be held on yet-to-be-specified dates in April. Lion Ken Preston provided a list of available items. The East End members will meet at a store near the previous location. The West End members will sell from the same store. Plans for the sale again illustrated the need for new, young members.
Also, the Scholarship Selection Committee should initiate the review of student records in the near future. Lion John Sanders reported on the planned programs for the April meeting as given in this bulletin.
The Lions present at the Board Meeting were: Roger Land, George Smith, Jerry Young, Joe Henderson, John Sanders, Ken Preston, Keith Lowery, Bill Luzader, Don Scott, Bob Reynolds, and Ron Bugos.
Lion Jerry Young reported that he and Roger Land had screen 85 children.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:35 p.m. EST.
Lion Bennie Sanders is recovering at home from a minor stroke. Lion Bruce Link is in an assisted living facility in Lincoln, Nebraska.
