OAK RIDGE LIONS CLUB AWARDS FOUR SCHOLARSHIPS TO ORHS SENIORS

The Oak Ridge Lions Club awarded four scholarships to graduating seniors from Oak Ridge High School. One of these scholarships is named for Jim Howell, who was a former member of the Club and a lifetime worker in the Oak Ridge school system.

Drew Hughes will be given the Howell Fellowship, and he plans to attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and study Engineering. He has a grade point of 4.08 and is interested in mathematics and Drew is a member of the senior steering committee, the National Honor Society and the FCA.science. He is the son of Jeffrey and Kasey Hughes of Haven Hill Lane.

Emilie Marks plans to study nursing at the University of Tennessee; she is interested in medicine, art, and psychology. She has a grade point of 3.51, and during high school, she has worked as a veterinary assistant and a volunteer at the hospital. She has also served as a camp councilor at Rainbow Camp. She is the daughter of Gary and Nela Marks of Everest Circle.

Tarrant Coffey currently has dual enrollment with Roane State Community College, and she plans to continue there studying nursing and then transfer to UT to complete her degree. Her grade point is 3.2, and she is interested in biology and mathematics. Her parents are Thomas and Taromie Coffey.

Heather Hacker (not pictured) plans to go to Bryan College in Dayton, TN. She hopes to enter teaching at the primary or high school level. Her grade point is 3.77, and her major interests are history and mathematics. Heather lives with her grandfather, Spence Furguson, on Elza Drive.
